Is everything around you just feeling…messy? Don’t worry! This post will give you all the tips you’ll need for a spring cleanse that tackles every area of your life!
It feels like a long time coming, but Spring is finally around the corner. And that means it’s spring cleaning season! I love what a good spring cleanse can make you feel and yet, I still struggle to make the time to refresh. It gets hard as a twenty year old college student to balance everything! That is why I am sharing some easy, simple tips for a spring cleanse so that you can feel as fresh as possible this time of year.
I also want to emphasize that a spring cleanse shouldn’t just be about cleaning and decluttering your space. Your mind and body need a refresh too so, don’t forget to take care of it. These tips for a spring cleanse are wholistic and most importantly, doable.
SPRING CLEANSE
1. Prioritize, Declutter, & Clean
Although this is pretty self-explanatory when it comes to cleaning up your space, it can easily be overlooked. The clutter can be SO much that it is becomes overwhelming and discouraging to sort through. And sometimes, it is just hard to figure out where to start! If this sounds like you, here is how you can go about tackling your mess.
Step 1: Prioritize, Prioritize, Prioritize! Break down your space into different sections. Are you just cleaning a room, an apartment, or a house? Whatever the answer may be, divide your space into about 3-4 small sections. For example, if you are just decluttering and cleaning a bedroom, the sections could look like this: closet/clothes, desk area, bed, and floor space. For an apartment, these sections could look like: kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom. If you are living in a bigger space, you can break down these sections into smaller chunks.
Step 2: Now that you have your space broken down into sections, consider these two things: which area is most cluttered and which area, when cleaned, will give you the most relief. The latter is the most important. Sometimes the feeling that you get from cleaning one area can act as motivation to tackle the other areas. I have found this technique for cleaning spaces the most productive.
Also, don’t feel pressured to clean out every section in your space in a single day, especially if you have a larger area to cover. Take it section by section and focus on cleaning out the areas that will give you the most relief first.
2. Rearrange Your Space
Can you change up your space in any way? Moving furniture around is an easy way to give your room a fresh look and feel. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic! A little move around here and there can have such a refreshing outcome.
If you are bored of the way your room is looking, you won’t regret rearranging your space this spring!
3. Get Centered
The thing about always being in an “on the go” mode is that it’s hard to find time to just disconnect from all the chaos. You can nap, try to find down-time, but your brain just doesn’t stop thinking about everything you got to get done. A great way to find that time for yourself to disconnect is through yoga and meditation.
There are tons of videos on YouTube for guided yoga and meditation for beginners. The easiest way to get started is by a 10 minute morning yoga and/or a five minute meditation. Explore the options on YouTube and figure out what you like and what you can realistically do without feeling stressed.
Start incorporating this into your routine! Always remember to not over work yourself. This should be stress relieving, not stress inducing! Other activities that you can pick up this spring to help you feel centered are journaling and reading. Taking the time to reflect and write down your thoughts is a great way to help clear your mind.
This is my favorite journal to reflect and goal set:
Reading self improvement books can help you reflect also. They are easy to read and super applicable!
These are two books that I am currently reading and absolutely loving:
4. Take A Self Care Day
Take a day to care for yourself and treat your skin and hair right! I’m telling you right now, you will feel so refreshed!! Enjoy a hot shower or bath, do a hair mask, face mask, listen to some music, and watch some TV. An absolute vibe and a wonderful way to wind down!
You can also use this self care day to only do things that spark joy. Yes, I am definitely applying Marie Kondo’s decluttering method to self care. But, it is absolutely true! Why spend your precious time doing something that doesn’t give you joy? If you have any hobbies that you have been pushing aside, this is your day to pick it back up. Use this time to do what makes you feel happy.
5. Eat Fresh
Having a clean and fresh meal will set you up for success on your spring cleansing journey! It will just give you the sense if a fresh start! Who wouldn’t like that? But seriously, if you are going to take a day to tackle any of these previous ideas, definitely consider incorporating a clean meal in the mix. If not a healthy meal, grab a cup of herbal tea to help you wind down before going to bed.
I hope these tips on a how to do a spring cleanse were useful and gave you some inspiration. Remember to take care of your space and wellbeing. I know it gets difficult with the chaos in life, but taking a day or a few to step back and take care of yourself will be a game-changer for you. You sure will feel centered and refreshed!
